The Distributed e-Learning Programme was a HEFCE funded programme of activity from 2004-6 which developed technologies and explored cultural and organisational issues around the use of technology to support lifelong learning, particularly with regional and subject communities. The programme provided funds for JISC and the Higher Education Academy to work together, and a large number of Subject Centres undertook a wide range of e-learning pilot projects.
PALATINE obtained funding to develop the PRISM project. PRISM was an interdisciplinary learning website that allowed lecturers and students to view and assemble collections of exemplar works from the subject areas of dance, music, theatre, art, architecture & design, and film in some of the influential art movements of the 'modern' period in Europe and the United States. Works, productions and artefacts were grouped by movement (or 'ism'). PRISM created a searchable and customisable user interface, providing lecturers and students with links to rights-cleared reproductions of and excerpts from exemplar works, productions and artefacts, grouped by movement (or 'ism').
